Reált -pronounced ray-elt -means star
Blaithnaid -pronounced blaw-nid -means blossom or flower
Clodagh - pronounced clo-da - named after a river?
Orlaith - pronounded orla- means golden princess
Saoirse- pronounced seer-sha - means freedom/liberty
they are all irish names!
What do you think of these girls names?
I'm Irish and I like all of these. They're all good old fashioned Irish names, not like the rubbish names I keep seeing on yahoo answers, from baby name sites. I've never heard Réalt as a name before but I like it. To the poster who said they didn't like these - Tierney and Keely aren't Irish names - Tiernan is an Irish boy's name.
Reply:I love the idea behind "Reált"- I adore French names and ones with beautiful meanings. I'm not sure I would choose to name a little girl with this - although the meaning is perfect.
Blaithnaid is really unattractive when written down - and a bit of a mouthfull too! Why not shorten it to "Blaith" - I think that is lovely.
Clodagh is awful!
Orlaith I love - it doesn't look wonderful written down but is a lovely, strong Irish name and "Orla" [pronounced] is very sweet. Saoirse is also lovely but may pose problems with mispronounciations.
Reply:If you live in Ireland, they are all lovely. If you live elsewhere, they are likely to cause a LOT of problems for your daughter over the years.(Realt seems to be about the most pronouncable of the lot.)
Reply:Réalt - never heard this used as a name before
Blaithnaid - sounds old fashioned to me. What about Blaithín?
Clodagh - Ok
Orlaith - never liked this name
Saoirse - like it
Reply:I love Orlaith! It sounds beautiful and I love it's meaning. I am sure your daughter-to-be (or whoever these names are for) will love that her name means golden princess! It's a lovely name.
Reply:I'm not a fan of the names, sorry. I'm Irish as well, but I prefer names like Tierney and Keely (both Irish).
Reply:Don't care for them, but I'm not Irish either. If you live in the U.S these names will not be prononced correctly and your child will be targeted for teasing.
Reply:unique names are one thing...but sometimes people take it too far. your kid isn't a lord of the rings character
Reply:I like Reált the best. It's cute!!!
Reply:i think that they all have a good meaning but noot so sure about the pronouncing! but the first one is kinda cool maybe as a middle name
Reply:They are cool when pronounced right, but the only problem is that no one knows how to pronounce them! Realt is very very very pretty though!
Reply:I hate them sorry
Reply:i like saoirse...but i have a feeling that it will be easily mispronounced.
Reply:I'm irish as well and am not fond of these.
Reply:i like clodagh
