Not in the cases if you are naming the tree or flower itself such as daisy or maple tree. There are though some name to plants that do require them due to the proper name in it..such as a Douglas fir tree. So be wary of where ya add them ok?

Ex. Tammy loves nature. She enjoys sitting among the natural beauty of the oak and maple trees, and seeing tulips and lilacs swaying in the spring breeze.

I love daffodils.
Reply:If you're saying something like "an oak tree" or "some daisies", then no. If you're using the scientific name, the genus name should be capitalized, and it should be italicized.
