What is the name of the flower that makes a perfect white cross when it blooms, and has a red center?

You may be thinking about the dog wood, Cornus florida. They sometimes are in bloom during Easter, which is why people refer to them that way. A cross with red on the ends for the blood and a crown thorns in the middle.
